CYCLING

Do the Tour . . . Stay at Home.™
There is no other event like the Tour de France, and though we'd all like to toe the start line, that privilege is earned by fewer than 200 riders each year. I remember riding the race in 1986, and I can tell you there is nothing else that compares to the intensity, speed, and pressure of the Tour. You want to get an idea of what it's like for the riders you're watching on television? Here's your chance.

Prologue: Kickoff Time Trial in London
CTS Workout: CTS Field Test
The Do The Tour...Stay at Home.™ Prologue workout is a race against the clock—actually it’s two. You'll warm-up like the pros and then go all out for two 10-minute intervals. Why? Because just like the Tour Prologue, this workout is a test of your current fitness and you can use the heart rate or power data from it to determine training intensities for other Do The Tour…Stay At Home.™ workouts. [62min]

Stage 8: Mountain Stage from Le-Grand-Bornand - Tignes
CTS Workout: ClimbingRepeats
Join Chris Carmichael and cycling champion Gord Fraser for a classic climbing workout. Stage 8 of the 2007 Tour de France features three big climbs back-to-back right before the finish, and this audio workout is exactly the kind of training Tour riders do to gain the sustainable power necessary to tackle a day like this. [67min]

Stage 13: Individual Time Trial in Albi
CTS Workout: SteadyState
The Stage 13 workout is a series of three SteadyState intervals that have you riding just below your maximum sustainable pace and power output. Even if you’re not competing in time trials yourself, spending increasing amounts of time at this critical intensity level is what helps any rider gain the power to go from pack fodder to the front of the pack. [68min]

Stage 15: Climbing Stage with Lance Armstrong
CTS Workout: HillAccelerations
Lance Armstrong knows a lot about accelerating and attacking on hard climbs. This challenging HillAccelerations workout from Lance and Chris Carmichael will get you ready to charge uphill with power and confidence. [64min]
